Winter Style With Karina Dresses!

While it is not my favorite season when it comes to colors/styles (I'm a pastel/bright colors lover for life!), I still have an appreciation for winter and fall hues and apparel! Over this past weekend, my fiancee, mother, and I went to visit some possible wedding venues (EEE!!!) and I decided to wear my new gorgeous Karina Dresses "Margaret" dress in navy lace! I paired it with B.A.I.T Footwear Shoes and a vintage snowflake brooch that I originally thrifted for the shop but decided to keep for myself!

The tag line for Karina Dresses is "the original easy dress" and let me tell you....they truly live up to it! Every dress I have from Karina is not only extremely comfortable but easy to wash and care for. I also never have to iron them, which is very important to be because I am the laziest person on the planet when it comes to ironing.

The dress was perfect for the day and kept me warm! I was able to take some photos in the dress while visiting the Heritage Museum of Orange County, which is most likely going to be my wedding venue because its gorgeous!!!More on that later :)  But for now, here are some photos! Also scroll all the way down to enter a giveaway for a chance to win a free dress from Karina so you can see for yourself how amazing they are!

Fall 2016 Dapper Day Expo Fun!

Hello friends! This post is coming a little later than I had planned; however, I couldn't pass up the chance to share a little bit about my experience at the Dapper Day Expo at the Disneyland Hotel on November 5th and 6th! If you aren't familiar with the expo or Dapper Day, be sure to check out the website here and follow the Dapper Day Expo Instagram here.

Day 1

Day 1 of the expo was kind of a whirlwind for me because there were so many people to say hello to and I did not sleep well the night before (thanks to my excited nerves + staying up late for last minute prep!); however, seeing so many lovely faces and having my best friend Jade and my fiancee Paul with me made it an amazing day!

My outfit for Day 1 was Haunted Mansion themed, thanks to this amazing skirt from Sassy Skirts for Gals on Etsy. I absolutely ADORE this skirt. I paired it with the Mickey Haunted Mansion wallpaper print brooch from my shop and a pinup girl clothing belt. Links below on where to purchase!

Close up of my outfit!

Day 2

For Day 2, I was ready to go after a good night's sleep and lots of pizza for dinner the night before =P

My outfit for Day 2 was Wonderland themed thanks to this gorgeous skirt from Unique Vintage! Can we also talk about how perfect the blue wall is for pictures? I'm obsessed!

Here is also a picture of my accessories for the day from my shop. Dainty mushroom earrings, the "Alice Imagination" Brooch, and the necklace from the Queen of Hearts set

I am loving this picture with the adorable Faheema, who is the genius behind the online shop Unicorn Crafts! Her booth was just ABSOLUTE PERFECTION and a complete inspiration! Follow her on Instagram for updates on her adorable accessories!

Had to take a moment to snap a photo with these cute little munchkins with their Cars inspired disney bounds! I was able to make earrings and a pin for them! Follow their mama @gorgeousli for more cuteness!

I absolutely had to take pictures BOTH days with the absolute STUNNING @van_kelsing. Kelsey's outfits on both days were just so amazing. I was obsessed!

Last but not least, I'm loving this picture of some of my fellow "Princess Squad" members!

Thanks again to everyone who read this blog or came to visit me during dapper day. I truly appreciate your support!

Blooming in Wonderland

Two blog posts in one week makes Melanie a productive gal! I've decided to post another one this week because I've been behind on uploading photos from my camera and have had so much going on!

I wanted to share this absolutely wonderful Retrolicious brand peter pan collar Alice In Wonderland themed dress that I wore when vending at the "Handmade at the Village" event at the Alpine Village in Torrance, Ca. The dress is from Lovely in Lilac which is a new online shop full of all the adorable things you can imagine! Check out their website here and their Instagram here.

Reasons why I am in love with this dress:
#1 SUPER DUPER COMFORTABLE which means alot to be because I am not happy if I anything is pushing too hard on my waist or is too tight in the wrong place =P

#2 POCKETS - need I say more?!

#3 ALICE INSPIRED PRINT CUTENESS

#4 PETER PAN COLLAR

#5 IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY I HAVE TO WRITE IN ALL CAPS

Here are some photos in front of the cute Alpine village shops taken by my friend Lydia (@bluelydia on insta) who is the most talented seamstress and wonderful gal!

Shoes: Vintage/Thrifted

I also made some collar clips to go with the dress! They are now available in the FemmeDeBloom etsy shop in light pink and dark pink! Click here to be directed to the shop.

Please take a moment to visit the Lovely in Lilac website and make sure to support them on Instagram!

Also be sure to follow the Handmade At The Village on Instagram if you're in the OC/LA area and want to come to one of our future events!

Engagement Party Fun!

As many of you already know, I recently got engaged! My fiance (so weird to say!) Paul and I are just about to start planning for our wedding, but first we decided to have a little family/wedding party meet & greet and engagement party! I wanted to share some special moments from the party and pictures of my decor/dessert table because they were so fun to put together! I've also tagged where to get some of the goodies if y'all are ever in the market for party accessories!

The table setting!
I was really trying to make this as cost-effective as possible so I used a lot of Amazon.com, Hobby Lobby and Target for decor. The placemats, napkins, and mason jars are from Amazon (12 mason jars for like 8 bucks!). The lace and doilies are from Hobby Lobby. As for the flowers, I just bought a bunch of different bouquets from the grocery store and mixed & matched!

I also put together a little area for guests to write down their addresses in a book for us to send them an invitation to the wedding! I included a frame with pictures of Paul and I from 2007 to now.

Close up look! (Check out my emo hair in 2007 guys woooo!). Yes I know 2015 is missing and that was a Melanie FAIL. =P The point is, we've known each other for quite some time hehe....

My dessert table! This was my favorite part of the entire part because #1 I LOVE DESSERT and #2 I loved putting it together! My future sister-in-law made the yummy Madeleine cookies dipped in white chocolate and I made the cupcakes and decorated them myself! I also made my own heart cupcake toppers using a heart punch from Michaels, cardstock, and toothpicks!

Napkins/Plates/Tins for Candy: Target
Cupcake Stand/Lace Cupcake Holders: Amazon
Tablecloth/Lace Tray: Daiso Japan

Bon Epi in Irvine is one of my two favorite places for Macarons (the other is Honey & Butter)! Flavors I picked included: Salted Caramel, Raspberry, Nutella (NOM), Passion Fruit, & Rose.

Lemon and vanilla cupcakes with strawberry frosting <3

This is Paul & I in front of the backdrop I put together! <3
She Said Yes/She Asked Signs: Amazon.com
Engaged Banner: Amazon.com
Paper Fans: Michael's
My dress: Doll Me Up, Inc.
My shoes: Baitfootwear

Hope y'all enjoyed the pictures :) Thanks for taking the time to care about this special time in my life!!

Love you guys!

Welcoming Autumn with Karina Dresses!

Today is the first day of Fall/Autumn y'all! Hooray! I was excited to wake up here in Southern California to some chilly weather this morning (which means, like, mid 60s...yes, I know). Unfortunately, it didn't last long because the sun is now out and my jacket has become a useless article of clothing to me already. I should just stop complaining before those people who know what REAL cold weather is like want to beat me up =P

Now that Fall has arrived, I'm hoping to make use of some longer sleeves (it's cold in my office anyway so it works ha ha) and I'm starting with my new gorgeous dress from Karina Dresses! Their new fall line is wonderful! In this post, I'm wearing the black with taupe Peggy dress. Make sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post for direct links to everything I'm wearing!

I also have to say that one of the reasons I absolutely love Karina dresses, especially for work outfits, is that I never have to iron them (even after washing!). I am SO lazy about ironing/steaming during the week because I'm more focused on either taking stock photos for the shop in the morning if I can and..well..BREAKFAST, because you don't want to see what Melanie hangry/without coffee looks like! So if you're in the market for some gorgeous dresses that are functional and comfortable, Karina Dresses is the place to go! Now for a couple pictures of my outfit..I wore it twice in the last two weeks!

On a different day, I paired it with the "Nose Stuck in a Book" Belle inspired brooch from the FemmeDeBloom Etsy Shop! See additional photo of the brooch up close. Again, list of direct links at the bottom of the post! <3

Femme Go Lightly!

The title of this blog post is titled after the stunning striped white & pink 1950s inspired "Golightly Bow Swing Dress" from Unique Vintage! This dress is extremely comfortable (elastic in the back, which I love) + it has pockets (always a plus for me!). I paired it with the adjustable red "Tell Me More" belt from Doll Me Up, Inc. and shoes were thrifted! Adjustable belt + stretchy waist + cuteness + pockets = a very happy comfortable Melanie!

Pictures were taken at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, California. It's one of my absolute favorite places to walk my dog and play Pokemon =P

Hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed wearing the dress!

Palm Springs Vacation!

So...I was going through my photos from my recent girls trip to Palm Springs and I realized I had so many amazing photos that I had to create a blog post for the trip to share them with y'all!

First and foremost, let me introduce you to the most adorable house we stayed at. The only way I could describe it when I saw it was "It's so...so...PALM SPRINGSY!" The house is so cute that it has it's own name..The Francis Alexander!

I found the house through Vacation Palm Springs (totally recommend them!). Excellent service and they followed up with us when he had questions about connecting the Wifi, which was great! Here are some pictures of the house!

This is the front of the house and I had to take a picture because its cute and orange and there are cacti.

This is my favorite room in the house because PINK. According to my friend Ashley, the bed comfort level was comparable to "sleeping with angels" so there we go. I might be a bit jealous right now.

To the right is a picture of the dining room/bar area with cute signage and chair colors!

Cute little sitting room with perfect d├ęcor.

Another shot of the sitting room with a mimosa next to it because its artsy.  Also, GIMME THAT PILLOW.

Here is a picture of our pool with our pool floats from Big Mouth, Inc. They are amazing and great quality! I found mine at Target but I know some of my friends found theirs on Amazon also!

Let me introduce you to the gang for the first day/night! From the left: Suzette (my bosom friend since 9th grade and a momma of 4!), Jade (the Cece to my Jess and the Hoda to my Kathy Lee), Mayra (my artsy friend who made my FemmeDeBloom logo and I got to be MOH in her wedding!), Ashley (my fellow 80s music lover and great friend who pretty much always looks good and I hate her for it), Gilda (my sister from another mister who I have known for over 10 years!)

My outfit details: Dress is from BonneChance Collections, Belt from Doll Me Up, Inc, and Shoes from Bait Footwear.

Our first day/night we basically stayed in and spent time in the pool, ordered pizza, made wine slushies and played games and it was a blast!

Wine slushies (made by Jade) must be consumed in cute cups and drink holders (also from Big Mouth Inc.)

Group picture of our floatie fun!

My second outfit of the day - mint polka dot bathing suit I got on Amazon.com here and an adorable flamingo print wrap scarf that Mayra got me for my birthday! Sunglasses are also from a cute vintage boutique by Mayra's house in LA (I hope to do a blog post on this place soon because I've never been and she's always gotten me the cutest stuff from this place!)

On Day 2 we visited the Saguaro and The Parker Hotel to have a couple drinks and check out the scenery!

The front of the Saguaro - ALL THE COLORS!

HOW CUTE IS THIS LOBBY?

People watching over the fence because we couldn't get into the pool =P

We were joined in this picture by Diana, who is Mayra's best friend from high school!

We stopped for Margaritas at the Tequila Bar in the Saguaro. Most of us ordered the Cucumber Jalapeno margarita, which everyone really liked! I thought it was a bit too sour for me, and that's saying a lot because I don't like sweet drinks! The tacos were great though so if you ever have a chance to go, I would recommend it!

At night, our friend Roxy (my dancing partner!) joined us at the house and we had reservations at Trio Restaurant in Downtown Palm Springs before going out dancing. The thing I loved about eating there was that you could take a picture and post it on instagram, tag Trio, and a little print out of your picture would be available at the front of the restaurant! To check out the menu for Trio click here.  I recommend the Mac n' Cheese!

Last but not least, I have to take a moment to share another picture of my outfit for Saturday night (The "Cross My Heart Flamingo Dress") because it is by far one of the cutest dresses I have EVER owned. The dress is by Bettie Page Clothing and I originally got it from Unique Vintage. However, it isn't available there at the moment. I found it being sold on amazon here. The fit is absolutely perfect and it is super comfortable! Plus, flamingos are LIFE.

...and that's a WRAP! We did a lot more on the trip but I don't want to bore you all with the gazillion pictures I took. Thanks so much for reading! If anyone has any questions about where we stayed or went or suggestions if you're headed to Palm Springs soon let me know because I LOVE THAT CITY!

Thank you again!
